Lobster ride, 65 miles

Breakfast in our back yard
at Oakland Seashore Cabins in Rockport.
The beach was mostly underwater at high tide.

We biked the southern half of the Lobster Ride and Roll century, a Bicycle Coalition of Maine event that had taken place in July. The marked route started in Rockland, a few miles south of our rented cabin.

Back in Rockland, we stopped at Jess's Market to buy live lobsters. The proprietor seemed to think we were newbies, and he demonstrated how to extract the claw meat. We gladly played along as he fed us samples.

Rick improvised, making a messenger bag out of his spare long-sleeved jersey, to carry three live lobsters and two bottles of beer.

Lynne arrives back at the cabin with the ears of corn in her back pockets.
