Franconia ride, 60 miles
View of Mount Lafayette (5,260 feet) from
the Franconia Notch bike path.
After the bike path we continued south into North Woodstock, then biked over Kinsman Notch (Route 112, west of the stretch that is the Kancamagus Highway). We took Route 116 north into Franconia and went up Butter Hill Road (Route 18) back to Route 3 to return to Twin Mountain.
From Twin Mountain, we biked south on Route 3 and the Franconia Notch bike path. (The design of this path has drawn a lot of criticism. It certainly has flaws, but this time of year we found it uncrowded and enjoyable.)
Lynne westbound on Kinsman Notch.
