We checked out of the Cristiana Guesthaus in Crested Butte, drove about 10 miles to Lake Irwin Campground (approx. elevation 10,500 feet) and hiked up onto Scarp Ridge (12,212 feet).

then drove Ohio Pass Road to Gunnison.
