Dec. 27: The blizzard started in the wee hours Monday
and lasted all day, dumping about 22 inches of snow.

We snowshoed up Mount Willard (elev. 2,415 feet),
3.2 miles round trip.

We were in the trees, out of the wind, for most of the hike. Previous hikers’ tracks had filled in quite a bit, and for the last quarter-mile or so, we were breaking trail in nearly three feet of powder.

Tom at Boulder Motor Court
got us plowed out in no time,
and we drove 8 miles
to the AMC's Highland Center
at Crawford Notch.

Needless to say, there’s not much of a view during a blizzard.
