Thursday, Sept. 22
-- Tioga Pass into Yosemite National Park -- 46 miles |
From Lee Vining, we gained elevation quickly:
about 3,100 feet in approximately 12 miles.
Highest elevation of the trip, 9,945 feet -- Yosemite National Park entrance
at Tioga Pass
Continuing west, we paused by the Dana Fork of the Tuolomne River to look back at Mount Dana and Mount Gibbs. After lunch at the Lembert Dome picnic area and a long look around Tuolomne Meadows, we backtracked to Lee Vining.
