Starnberg to Munich -- 25 miles
|
The fraulein wasn't up yet
when we left her house in Starnberg.

.
First we went back to the tourist office building, to get the
kind doctor's name so we could send her a thank-you.
A pair of touring cyclists from the Frankfurt area helped us
find the right road out of town. One man did all the talking, and the other
smoked a cigarette while he biked.
Before long we were back to the River Isar and then Kraftwerk
Muhltal. We remembered the rough trail in Grunwald and opted for the road
and paved paths instead.
It was smooth sailing into Munich. We arrived about 11:30 a.m.
The kids brought down the bathroom scale and helped us weigh our loaded
bikes. Lynne's bike and gear weighed 55 pounds, of which about 22 is the
bike itself; Rick's bike and gear, 66 pounds. Then the girls left for a
pool party.
When they returned with 18 girlfriends for a farewell party
at the apartment, we were boxing up our bikes for the plane trip home the
next day.
